Whaley

The story of this family can be read in Rev. Samuel Whaley's book " The English Record of the Whaley Family and its Branches in America" (1801)    Wyamarus Whaley was knighted by William Of Normandy  in 1067 for services to the King in the Battles of Hastings 1066.   He was granted the Lordship of Whaley in Wapentake of Blackburn, Lancaster County. His brother Stephon was also knighted.   It is believed that all of the Whaley lines descended from these two brothers.

 Nathaniel Whaley1 b. bet. 1760-1765; d. c. 1829 in Upson Co., Georgia; he married  Agnes b. bet. 1761 and 1770 ; d. Jan 1842 Upson Co., Georgia and buried Upson Co., Georgia.  

Children of Nathaniel and Agnes Whaley:

  1. Ebenezer/Eben Whaley, b. c. 1785 Georgia; d. 1 Jan 1853 Talbot Co., Georgia; m. Tamzin/Tamsey Parham 10 Jan 1822. Residence: 1830-1850 Talbot Co., GA.

  2. William Whaley, b. bet. 1781-1790 Georgia; d. May 1834 Pike Co., Indiana; m. (1) Betsy Kinman 21 Nov 1808 Morgan Co., GA. (2) m. Bersheba Crayton 26 July 1824 Pike Co., Indiana.

  3. Elijah Whaley, b. c. 1800 Georgia; d. bet. 1850-1860.  He married  Susan Bridges 11 Dec 1838 in Upson Co., GA.

  4. Nancy Whaley

  5. John Whaley, b. bet. 1791 and 1800 in Georgia; d. 6 July 1863 in Magnolia, Columbia Co., AR.  He married  Martha Smith 19 Dec 1823 in Jasper Co., GA.

  6. Elizabeth/ Betsy Whaley, b. ? m. possibly  Richard Kates.

  7. James P? Whaley, b. bet. 1791 and 1800 in Georgia; d. 1850 in Tallapoosa Co., AL.  He married  Sarah/Sally Strickland 17 Dec 1820 in Jasper Co., Georgia.

  8. Sarah Whaley, b. bet. 1801- 1810 Georgia; m. possibly  Asa H. Smith 8 May 1823 Jasper Co., GA.

  9. George Whaley, b. c. 1805; d. bet. 1850-1860.  He married  Elvira J.

  10. Mary Whaley, b. c. 1811-1812 in Georgia; m.  John Martin 14 Dec 1825 Upson Co., Georgia.

  11. Isaac Whaley, b. c. 1801 Georgia; d. 7 Nov 1858 Pike Co., AL. 

  12. Isham/Isom M Whaley, b. March 1812 Georgia; c. aft. 1900 in Falls Co. or McLennan Co., Texas.  He married  Caroline Brown 15 March 1835 in Upson Co., GA.

Generation 2

Isaac Whaley2, (Nathaniel1) b. c. 1811-1812 in Georgia; d. 7 Nov 1858 in AL; buried Whaley Family Cemetery, Pike Co., Alabama. He Married Ruth Smith b. c. 1807 Georgia and died 22 Feb 1877; buried Whaley Family Cemetery in Pike also.

  1. Elijah Smith Whaley, b. 7 July 1826 GA; d. 21 Aug 1907 Pike Co., AL; buried Whaley Family Cemetery, Pike Co., AL.  He married  Serena N. Whaley 1856 in Talbot Co., GA.

  2. William W Whaley, b. c. 1828; m.  Mary Glaze 8 Dec 1850 Chambers Co., Alabama.

  3. Joseph Augusta Whaley, b. b. c. 1832 Georgia; c. 15 Sep 1870 in Columbia Co., AR.  He married  Lucinda/Lucy A Carter 28 Oct 1857 in Pike Co., Alabama.

  4. James Mack Whaley, b. c. 1834 Georgia; d. 7 Dec 1889 Pike Co., AL and buried Beulah.  He married Mrs. Mary E (Massey) Moore 25 Nov 1865.

  5. Mary Narcissa Whaley, b. c. 1839 Georgia m . Anthoney Milton King 22 Nov 1860 in Pike Co., Alabama.

  6. Elizabeth Parthena Whaley, b. c. 1842 Alabama.

  7. Martha Jane Whaley, b. c. 1843 Alabama; she never married.

  8. Laura C Whaley, b. c. 1845 Alabama; m. (1) William L Botsford 19 March 1868 Pike Co., AL., m. (2) James F Devane 1871.

  9. Isaac R Whaley Jr., b 10 May 1846 Alabama; d. 29 Nov 1911; burial Woodside Cem. Grand Saline, TX.  He married  Angie B Lee 13 Feb 1873 in Pike Co., Alabama.
